As I mentioned in my last post, I’m taking the Dale Carnegie Sales Advantage course. An unexpected benefit of the course has been the time spent thinking about how to talk about my upcoming book. It’s not that I haven’t been doing it for years, but the activities we’ve done each week have allowed me to organize my thoughts.
So Why?
This past week in particular, made me realize the primary reason I wrote the book: confidence.
Imagine
It’s six month’s from now and the phone rings with an offer for a gig. You ask questions about the music, the venue, the commitment and the pay.
- The music would be fun and you would tear it up!
- It’s at a place you’ve been DYING to play.
- You have the time.
- The pay is right for the commitment and time and venue!
But you say “No thanks, I appreciate the call, but that’s not the kind of work I’m looking for,” and you hang up the phone.
Confidently.
The Plan
You’re confident because:
- You know where you want to be in the music business.
- You know why you want to be there (the life you want to be living).
- You know (a) the work to get where you want to be is out there, and (b) you can do that work.
- This gig was NOT that work.
Doesn’t that feel good?
